After Bill went out, Honest said, “There’s fourteen of them.”

Donland mused, “Fourteen men sold into slavery, fourteen men with families. The least I can do for them is to set them ashore. Their going will be a loss to the company not only in number but in effectiveness.”

“That it will, just as not having you aboard for a few days. Take no chances while you are ashore.”

Honest smiled a tight smile and said, “The only chance I’ll take is with a lady.”

Donland thought to remind Honest of Angelica but decided against it.
