“Yeah,” Jake replied, not sure what to say.

Five minutes later three squad cars drove by, lights flashing but no sound. Feeling tired, Jake started the car and drove them home.

Part Eight: Back to the Doctor

Jake was in a pissy mood. Nobody from the awful party had been arrested or even taken in for questioning; Tom and his colleagues not finding any evidence of misconduct or wrongdoing. Mitch had gotten away scot free, and was now strutting around the gym without a care in the world.

Or he had been, Jake thought to himself, watching Mitch out of the corner of his eye. The muscular dark haired man was scowling fiercely, arms crossed angrily over his chest as he glared at everyone. More than a few customers had approached the reception desk to ask a question, only to turn around when confronted with his bad mood.
