Torren who had been quiet the whole time said, “What happened. I saw it glow green then sputter out.”

Jon wasn’t exactly sure himself, so he pulled out the beginner book and thumbed to the health potion page. Sure enough, he saw a handwritten note at the top of one the pages. It said, ‘be firm with nature magic, it needs direction’.

“Don’t know but the book gave me an idea.”

“Ok honey! I know you can do it this time.”

Jon just shrugged his prior confidence shaken.

He dumped the failed potion then cleaned the glassware. He got some more ingredients and started again. Twenty minutes later he was back at the crucial step. He opened his window and started channeling mana into the glowing liquid.

This time reached out his senses to the liquid and felt the magic in it. It was formless.

I want you to heal people. He thought while furiously sending mental images of cuts closing up and bones knitting themselves back together.

The nature magic in the potion responded ever so slightly like it was a reluctant child with a list of chores a mile long.

An instant later he had finished transfering all twenty mana points and he cut off the connection.

For several seconds nothing happened, then the potion brightened, sputtered, then it retained the slightest of green glows.

A window popped up again:
