HER FACE, HER whole body, flamed. The truth had poured out of her. Like a dam breaking with no way to stop the deluge.

She could see the war going on in his face. The need to do the right thing. The desire to be with her, even if it was only for one night.

For months, he’d been watching her, talking to her with that glint in his eyes. One she had ignored, thinking he was elderly DJ, but with Dean staring at her like that, she understood what that gleam meant.

He ached for her the way she ached for him.

Over the years, she’d tried to forget him. Had taken drastic steps, such as moving in with Tyler, to force herself to get over him. Now he was here, in this room with her, and suddenly the world seemed full of possibilities that she actually desired. For starters, stripping off his clothes and getting under him.

He sucked in a sharp breath as though her touching him was torture.

She could tell his last bit of control was fraying, so she pushed it further. Ran one hand up his neck, across the stubble of his jaw and tangled her fingers in his hair. The other hand she slid lower, over his tight abs, and lower still, where she palmed the hard bulge that was proof of his desire.

“You’re not playing fair,” he groaned.

Well, if this was a game, she had every intention of winning.

“Funny, I never had to work so hard for you to take off my clothes when we were teenagers.” She crushed her mouth to his and took what she wanted.

He tasted so good. So familiar.

This man set her senses on fire. He was the flame and she was the moth. She didn’t care if she got burned. Not if it meant she could have him again, even for a little while.

In the moment of his surrender, he kissed her back, and their tongues tangled together. His arms swooped around her, bringing her body tight to his as he pushed her up against the wall. The release of his self-control seemed to ignite an insatiable need he’d been keeping locked down, and she melted against him.

“Tell me,” she said, taking a ragged breath. “Tell me you want me.” She felt it in the sureness of his lips, the heat of his tongue, in the roughness of his hands on her body, but there was something special about hearing the words.

“Yes, I want you.” He went after her mouth again in a deep, all-consuming kiss.

Winning never tasted sweeter, and she couldn’t get enough of him.

She loved that he no longer showed any of the reluctance he’d expressed earlier. His mouth on hers was hungry and impatient, and his hands were equally demanding as they roved over her body. She matched him in every single emotion, stroke for stroke.

She tugged the shirt over her head and tossed it as he did likewise with his.

He slid the straps of her bra off her shoulders, along her arms, and pushed the lace cups down.
