Twenty-Four

Olivia

Pretty sure my ovaries just exploded.

Sneaking glimpses of the guys before they shifted, I am positive I’ve never seen a trio of more gorgeous or perfect men. My mind keeps replaying their hard bodies while I watch them run around covered in fur, fangs, and big fluffy tails.

Cocooned in my blanket, I can’t remember the last time I’d laughed this hard; Knox, Gage, and Dylan’s wolves entertaining me with their antics for quite some time. They take turns sitting pressed up against my legs, lending me their heat and soaking up my attention as I run my fingers through their coarse, dense fur.

There’s still some disconnect in my head when I watch these massive wolves; it’s difficult to wrap my brain around their dual natures. But even as their wolves, their personalities shine through.

It’s well past noon when Gage shifts back into his human form, and he does it in my line of sight. His eyes lock on mine while he saunters over to where he tossed his clothes, and my heart is pounding like a kick drum in a too-small bedroom. I’m positive they can all hear it. Hell, it’s all I can hear, and I’m just a regular old human.

Gage’s full lips tilt up in a smile when I don’t avert my eyes, though I do work hard to keep them on his face and not somewhere more personal. I stare at his dancing silver irises and those perfect lips I want all over my body.

Oh fuck, I’m so out of my depth here.

When the heat in my cheeks is hot enough that I worry I’m risking spontaneous combustion, I finally turn away. Gage chuckles, but has mercy on me and pulls his jeans on before I burn to ash.

“You can look now, Livvie.” He’s amused by my reaction to him, but there’s heat there that mirrors my own. I almost have to wipe a line of drool off my chin when he flexes to pull his shirt over his head.

Gage sits with one leg on the arm of my chair, his arm resting along the back, and I lean into him.

“That was… that was incredible,” I whisper once he’s settled. “You guys are so much bigger than I thought you’d be.”

Gage about chokes on his own tongue, Dylan and Knox’s wolves whipping their heads in my direction.

“Oh my gods. I meant your wolves! Your wolves are so much bigger than I thought you’d be! Oh fuck.” Gage’s laughter fills the clearing, the sound so rich and carefree that it’s almost worth the embarrassment I’m drowning in. Almost.

“We’re larger than natural wolves used to be by a bit. Or so I’m told, as none of us have seen a natural wolf.” He glosses right over my Freudian slip, thank gods.

“How often do you guys change into your animals?”

“I shift more than my brothers. I can’t go more than a couple of days without running or I feel like my insides are writhing around under my skin, trying to claw their way out.
