It was a beautiful and calm Friday evening. August sat on the third-story deck of his home in Pacific Heights, a subdivision of San Francisco. His view was highly sought after, and was the reason he was willing to overbid by 40k when the house was on the market. It was breathtaking, allowing a clear view across the Bay into Oakland, Emeryville, and beyond. On a good night, he swore he could see the Mormon Temple.

He had a lot on his mind, and his current spot provided him a nice place to think, during those times.

When the intercom next to him buzzed, he was temporarily snapped from the place that was holding his thoughts. “Mr. Summers, it’s Sicily. I wanted to see if you needed anything more before I departed to my quarters for the evening?”

“No, Sicily. It’s fine. But thank you for checking. Enjoy a nice evening.”

“Thank you. Have a safe business trip, Mr. Summers.”

“I’m certain that I will. I already can’t wait to get back,” he smiled. “I’ll return mid-week. Veronica will be by to pick up Bella tomorrow afternoon.”

“Yes, I remember, sir. I’ll make sure everything is all set for Bella’s visit.”

“Alright, well sleep tight!” he exclaimed, before disconnecting the call.

Sicily had worked for August for almost seven years now and was an awesome housekeeper, as well as a loving nanny to Bella, his six-year old daughter. When August had gone through his divorce five years earlier, his ex-wife had tried to lure Sicily away to work for her, but Sicily decided to stay on, and he couldn’t be more pleased.

Bella loved Sicily, and since he had managed to snag 80/20 custody, so his ex could jet-set from country to country, it worked in his favor to have his daughter there with him. He provided a far more stable environment.

August pulled back on a Stradavarius, and then took a sip from his whiskey glass. He should have been thinking about the trip he had to take to Los Angeles to meet with one of the two firms in the running for his new project; but instead he was back at his class reunion, in his hotel suite—with Tessa. He could think of nothing else.

He had always felt something for her. But finally being able to hold her, and claim her as his for a few hours…it was nothing he could have imagined. He knew she was special whenever he would watch her in undergrad. As outgoing as he was in school, his jock swagger always seemed to fall short when it came time to approach her. For some reason, she had always seemed out of his league, causing him to back off at the last minute.

While August was a lover of all women, and had dated many from various places around the world, he had always had an affinity for a beautiful brown-skinned, intelligent, and well put together woman. Tessa was all those things, nicely wrapped in a delectable package.
