Perhaps the most valuable feature of this essay is the correlation of a list of towns, organized by department, with the native languages once spoken in them. The correlation is made without any supporting evidence in published form but apparently pre-dates 1921, the year this work was first published. Lardé y Larin, therefore, is useful in determining the distribution of native languages just prior to the disturbances of 1932, when thousands of Indians in El Salvador were slaughtered at the hands of government forces.
