Who has time for lists right now if this conversation is headed where I’m hoping it’s headed?

Why did I tell Eli that I hadn’t had sex since my engagement ended?

Let’s blame it on the wonderful wine and call it a day.

But I had to admit it’d felt good telling him about my ex-fiancé.

I was like the firefly who’d been released from a jar, free to glow among the trees. Free to move on and focus on my future and not be stuck in the past.

“Yep,” I said, responding to his disbelief that I hadn’t had sex in many years. “And I really want to have sex again.”

In my head, those words came out wistful.

In reality? They were seductive and needy and rough.

All I could focus on was how I wanted to run my hands over every inch of him, feel his lips on my skin, feel him deep inside me.

At that thought, the ache between my legs grabbed its pom-poms, cheering on the lust-filled idea.

Eli turned to me, and the heat in his eyes gave me hope that what I wanted wasn’t one-sided. A slight breeze ruffled the leaves in the nearby trees and brought the pleasant scent of pine with it. It was like being in a Christmas tree lot, only better.

“Will you have sex with me?” My voice was low and casual as if I’d just asked him to dance.

“I would love to.” The rough sound of his voice was anything but casual. It riled up the ache between my legs to a whole new level. “But there’s one problem.”

“What’s that?”

“We can’t exactly have sex at my parents’ house, and there’s no vacant hotel nearby.”

“We could have sex here.” It would definitely make the list of things I’d never done before.

The corner of his mouth slid into the sexy half smile that had my panties wet in record time. “Is having sex in the mountains on a bucket list I don’t know about?”

“No, but maybe it should be. You’ve probably had mountain sex lots of times, but it would be a new experience for me.”

Sure, it was a little colder here than I would’ve preferred, but I was positive I’d quickly heat up.

Hell, I was already heating up just fantasizing about having sex with him.

“I haven’t had mountain sex as many times as you’re probably thinking.”

“How many times are we talking about? Ten? Twenty?” Because inquiring minds wanted to know.

He shrugged. “I didn’t exactly count them.”

Doubt suddenly slithered in, coiling around my gut, squeezing tighter and tighter and tighter. “Of course, if you don’t want to have sex with me, I completely understand.”

He and I were friends, and maybe he didn’t want to confuse that with us having sex.

While that didn’t help eliminate the needy ache taking up residence, I could totally respect his wishes.

Eli pulled me to him, and his heated gaze got that much hotter. If I’d been made of wax, I would’ve melted.

“I definitely want to have sex with you. More than you could possibly believe.
