CHAPTER 15

SYDNEY

He was a lot to take. The man was intense and hung. God, he was hung. And hers. He was hers. He’d made that abundantly clear, and she’d never been happier. It was almost too good to be true. All of her dreams, wishes, and fantasies had come to fruition.

He also seemed intent on finding out just how many times he could make her climax in a single session. She’d never thought of herself as multi-orgasmic, and in the past, she’d had difficulty achieving orgasm with a partner. Nash had banished those fears from her mind. She’d been worried she wouldn’t be able to satisfy the Bull Shark. His reputation on the base was that he had an enormous appetite but once satiated, he removed himself from the situation. Nothing was further from the truth. Oh, the appetite was right, and she wondered now if anyone had ever known how deep his need had been. Tell him and make him believe.

He needed to know she believed in him and saw the goodness in his heart. The Project had exploited the darkness. Sydney was no fool. She knew the darkness—including a capacity for violence—existed within him but also knew it was the part that had protected the light. He could see the light in his brothers but had a hard time recognizing it in himself. She would help him understand that not all darkness was bad.

Sydney wrapped her arms around herself and breathed in the ocean air. She couldn’t take as long as she wanted. Nash had been adamant that she didn’t go up on deck unless he or one of the others was with her. Their need to protect had been built into their DNA. Apparently, the Project had never foreseen that sense of duty might be applied to something other than the Kraken and the Project.

More than any of them, Sydney understood how worrisome the team’s growing need for something for themselves, something outside the Project, had been. What her superiors hadn’t known was once Sydney had realized what they were doing, she’d created
