How do you describe a person who has faith?

Here is a description of a faithful person given by Evelyn Underhill in her classic book, The Fruit of the Spirit:

“It means keeping everything in your charge in good order for love’s sake, rubbing up the silver, polishing the glass even though you know the Master will not be looking ’round the pantry next weekend. . . . You have got to be the sort of cat who can be left alone with the canary, the sort of dog who follows, hungry and thirsty but tail up, to the very end of the day.

“Faithfulness is the quality of the friend, refusing no test and no trouble, loyal, persevering, not at the mercy of emotional ups and downs or getting tired when things are tiresome.”

How do you know if you have this kind of faith?

George MacDonald offered this method: “Ask yourself whether you have this day done one thing because He said, ‘Do it,’ or once abstained because He said, ‘Do not do it.’ It is simply absurd to say you believe, or even want to believe, in Him, if you do not do anything He tells you.”

How do you hear from God the way He desires for you to display your faith?

Ask Him to speak to you a “yes” or “no” response in every circumstance of your day. Also, open your eyes to what and who the Lord brings across your path. His desire is for you to speak the truth of God’s Word to all whom you encounter, to help all whom you can, to give of your time, talent, and treasure in a way that produces good, and to refrain from evil.

Seek to develop the reputation of a “person of faith”!
