Lulu looked down at her meticulously planned travel outfit. Carefully thought-out layers, comfortable but stylish ballet flats, leggings that looked like jeans but didn’t feel like it, a black cashmere wrap, and a blazer. Everything perfectly coordinated. Understated jewellery and hair up in a neat ponytail with a black velvet scrunchie. Lulu Drinkwater did not arrive or depart from an airport, or indeed anywhere, looking as if she had been travelling for twelve hours. Lulu arrived ready to greet the world.

As she hurried along the platform after alighting the fast train, she couldn’t wait to get to the airport and board the plane. Everything was going beautifully to plan. Ollie was spending the weekend with his brothers at the family house in the South of France, Willow was in the Caribbean for the week, and Mabel was staying with Holly, leaving Lulu to go off and live the dream. Pick up her dream dress, in a dream location, to marry the man of her dreams.

As she flicked open the app on her phone, she scanned the digital ticket. No back of the plane for her when travelling via the Ava Richardson enterprise. She’d fallen right in with Ava who, once Lulu had said it was on, had taken charge, and her assistant Sheilagh had taken care of the whole thing. Meaning travelling with the best all the way.

Whilst Lulu had worked a double shift at the hotel and, too late for her to interject, Sheilagh had drafted an itinerary, booked her train, lined up the connection and selected the flights. The next thing Lulu had known, she had nothing else to organise except which accessories would go with which outfit. She’d checked through the tickets and smiled as everything had been thought of. How nice it would be to have someone to assist one in life.

As she approached the check-in desk, put her bag on the machine and passed over her passport, the woman in the bright red uniform smiled.

‘Good morning, Ms Drinkwater. How are you today?’

Lulu smiled back. ‘I’m good, thank you. I’ve had an easy trip with no problems so far. I hope it lasts.’

With a friendly smile, the woman behind the desk continued, ‘Business trip to Hong Kong?’

‘Nope, it’s not,’ Lulu replied, smiling.

‘Lovely weekend away then?’ the woman said as she clicked buttons on the computer and reached over for Lulu’s passport.

Lulu couldn’t stop herself from beaming. ‘Actually, I’m going to pick up my wedding dress.’

‘Really! Wow, how delightful. What a thing to do! Have you been to Hong Kong before?’

‘I haven’t, no. I’m really excited. I can’t wait to get there.’

The woman smiled again as she flicked through Lulu’s passport. ‘You’re going to love it. It’s one amazing city, in my humble opinion.’

‘I’m meeting my friend there in the terminal. She’s travelling from New York, and she’s been there many times before. She's a life coach and international speaker, so she travels a lot.’

‘You’ll be all set then. Make sure you go to The Peak and get off the beaten track a bit.
