Chapter Four-Austin

My eyes opened with the moon's ascent. I stretched and tossed off the sheet that covered my naked body. My hand pulled at the hard-on that hadn’t gone down since I first saw Special Agent Prince. I closed my eyes and let my hand slide up and down until I came quick and hard.

Reaching for the shirt I had on yesterday, I wiped myself off. I was still stiff but not as hard as before and I needed blood.

I headed out for the refrigerator, and it wasn’t until I passed the girl lying on the guest bed that I remembered what happened last night.

“Pretty impressive.” I looked into the room and saw Marlowe sitting in a chair off to the side.

“Seriously.” I sprinted back to my room and shifted through one of my drawers to find some sweats to put on.

It wasn’t as if the four of us hadn’t seen, well the four of us, but we did try not to walk around naked in front of each other. The exception to that being Ellis and Khye but they were in a relationship so that didn’t count.

I went back to the room to see Marlowe had moved and was placing another cold towel on Faith’s head.

“How is she?”

“Not as bad as I’ve seen but still going through as much pain as we all did.”

“Good.”

It was the one thing that everyone remembered about changing. The pain of every organ shutting down. Muscles stretching, reshaping, and permanently hardening. Blood alternating between slowly pumping through you and then rushing to your heart. Senses sharpening and the flood of new information your brain has to process.

“You want to talk about last night?” She didn’t look up at me, but the question triggered so many memories.

“She needed help.” I motioned my head toward the bed.

“Faith or the FBI agent that you couldn’t stop staring at?” She looked up with a smile.

“I wasn’t staring,” I lied. If I was being honest with myself I had all but memorized Special Agent Prince, or Layla, as her card noted.

She was a beautiful woman but there was more to her than what she was sharing. A reason beyond wanting to catch this killer that was driving her. It was that motivation that made me question if we could trust her. Made me wonder if push came to shove what she would really do.

“You were staring.” Marlowe laughed. “I’m not judging. She is attractive as hell, but I just want to make sure that she isn’t clouding your judgment.”

“As long as you have known me, why would you ask such a thing?”

“Because of how long I have known you, and how well,” she pointed out. “I know the guy that swore he would never take the chance of changing anyone ever again. That spent a decade mourning a woman that wasn’t worth a tenth of your concern. A man that hasn’t been involved with a woman since Nixon was in office because of the pain that he denies still exists, but we all see.
