WHAT'S IN THE BAG
As the image of the glistening water reflects off his dilating pupils, something is brewing behind him, taking advantage of his complacency.
Remaining unseen, a dark shadow slinks across the hallway's walls. Slowly creeping, it reaches the kitchen's ceiling and lingers overhead. Its black aura projects a mask, darkening the counter space. As it hovers over the mound of fetid garbage sacks, like a storm cloud, the cast shadow alters the bodily liquid that is pooling on the countertop. The goo's green hue intensifies and fizzles as tiny bubbles rise to its surface. Its vigorous nature resembles the boiling created by a feasting school of hungry piranhas on the attack. Silently working, the darkness turns the liquid's contents acidic as it devours the plastic, dissolving it layer by layer.
Each eroding package reveals its contents with a sudden pop reminiscent of opening a tube of refrigerator biscuits. Adonis's joke becomes a reality, as each bag contains the remains of a corpse. Women's bodies have been callously butchered to fit inside the confined spaces, rendering the parts almost unrecognizable as human.
The scene's brutality reveals the gruesome account of a perpetrator who completely disregards human life. The atrocity that has taken place is irredeemable. It is utterly horrifying.
Each bundle of mangled flesh and bone has been chopped and compressed into dense blocks using a trash compactor before being concealed inside the garbage bags. The only remaining recognizable part is the decomposing head. Whether by choice or because of the skull's thicker bone, it was kept mostly intact, with the brain and eyes still attached.
As the simmering goop engulfs the plastic, a putrid smell fills the air. Each piece of ebony flesh covering the bone is skillfully stitched together, with new patches replacing the old ones as they rotted away. The variety of textures and shades of ebony combine to mimic a child's art project.
Once the liquid has eaten away each of the outer wrappings, the bubbling ceases. The end of the fizzing indicates the assignment's completion, designed to release something more menacing.
Coming to life, the mismatched skull's jaw hinges open. As it silently yawns, its bones lock into place, and the eye impaled by the knife rolls in circles in an effort to free itself.
The room's energy causes the water's pressure to rise, forcing the last rust from the pipes. Adonis shoves his head under the faucet to cure his dehydration.
While he takes large gulps of water, the mounds of bone and meat rock back and forth; as the piles gain momentum, the fetid matter edges forward like a glut of slugs slithering toward the skull. They leave a slimy trail through the pool of bodily fluid.
Immediately, the eyes of the head dart to the right to stare at Adonis's back, and its teeth clack together, triggering movement inside the jaw. A tongue slowly uncoils, rolling from the back of its severed throat, and as the bulging organ extends fully into its mouth, the tip rises to the roof of the head's rotted palate, waiting for its time to escape.
