CSS/FINANCIAL AID PROFILE

The CSS Profile is a second set of inquiries about the finances of the parent and student. It is intended to help colleges (mostly private) make permissible adjustments to the federal methodology for the calculation or make decisions on grants and scholarships outside of federal financial aid programs.

The CSS Profile is just like the FAFSA, only more so. Some of the same questions are asked, but in more detail. And there are some questions on the Profile that even the federal government doesn't consider to be its business.

You may find it easier to fill out the CSS Profile after you have completed the FAFSA, but there is no requirement to file them in any particular order.

You'll find a copy of the 2005–06 Profile Pre-Application Worksheet on pages 153 to 166. This form is used to organize the necessary information required to fill out the Profile online at www.collegeboard.com or https://profileonlinecollegeboard.com/index.jsp , or in writing on a printed copy of the form.
