Chapter 13

Brooke awoke to the pleasure of Drew gently caressing her breast. She moaned as the brunette moved to lay on top of her.

“I’ve been dying for you to wake,” Drew kissed her moving her full soft lips against Brooke’s.

“Um,” Brooke hummed as Drew undulated against her. “I could get use to this.”

“Good,” Drew whispered into her ear.

Drew’s phone chimed then announced, “Finn calling.”

“Noooo,” Drew groaned reaching for her phone. “What’s up Finn?”

“I think we have the guy who mugged you last night,” Finn informed her. “Are you on your way in?”

“Give me an hour,” Drew hedged. “I overslept this morning.”

“Cupid’s not in yet either,” Finn noted.

“She may be having trouble in this snow.” Drew said. “I’ll swing by and pick her up.”

“I can send a car to the Y,” Finn volunteered. They’re all fitted with snow tires and chains.”

“I can handle a little snow,” Drew gulped.

“It isn’t just a little boss,” Finn informed her. “It’s turned into one of the worse snowstorms in our history. Should I send a car for you?”

“No, surely I can walk a few blocks,” Drew insisted. “I’ll be there in less than an hour.”

Brooke slid from under Drew. “I must go to the Y and change clothes. I don’t want to do the walk of shame for Finn and Trent. They’d pick up on the fact that I still have on yesterday’s clothes.”

“Um, it’s already cold where you were lying in my arms.” Drew hummed her frustrations. “Be careful, baby.”

As soon as the elevator door closed, Brooke assumed her cupid persona and materialized in a public bathroom stall in the police station. She walked into the station dressed in boots, jeans and a bulky sweater over a plaid shirt.

“Whoa, someone looks rested and gorgeous this morning.” Trent praised the blonde as she sat down at her desk.

“You’d look ten times prettier if you’d brought coffee and donuts,” Finn added. “The breakroom coffee pot is on the blink. I’d go, but I’m waiting for an officer to pick up Drew’s purse.”

“I can get coffee.” Brooke volunteered, “Starbucks is just across the street. Where’s Drew? Should I get a cup for her also?”

“Yeah.” Finn nodded. “She’ll be here by the time you get back. I’ll have a Blonde Toasted White Chocolate Mocha.”

“Make mine a Blonde Caramel Cloud Macchiato,” Trent said.

“Seriously,” Brooke laughed. “You think I’ll remember that?”

“I’ll write it down,” Finn offered.

Brooke took the coffee list and muttered something about sissy drinks as she left the room.

To Brooke’s chagrin, the Starbucks was closed. She was determined to return to the squad room with coffee. A quick scan of the area revealed a small convenience store at the end of the block was open. She turned up the collar on her shirt and trudged through the snow.

“Come in here, young lady,” the store’s jovial owner welcomed her. “How can I help you?”

“I’m looking for coffee,” Brooke answered eyeing the pot at the end of the counter. “What flavors do you have?”

The man laughed, “Sorry, all I have is good, old-fashioned coffee.
