Glacial Etched Quartz

Glacial etched quartz represents a family of quartz crystals found in the Himalayas and nearby locations. All of the crystals exhibit a form of surface etching or growth interference caused by special circumstances in their formation environments. Many have unusual patterns and markings etched on their surfaces. The most famous of these crystals come from Kullu Pass, India, and they are variously known as Kullu rosies, Himalayan ice quartz, and nirvana quartz. Other forms of glacial etched quartz may be found in Pakistan and Nepal, and they may be accompanied by interesting inclusions of a variety of minerals.

Much glacial quartz has been found as glaciers recede; these strange crystals found beneath the cover of the glaciers often resemble the icy glaciers themselves. It has been postulated that the deglaciation of the region may be a reflection of global warming and the overall transition occurring on Earth. The crystals of this area have always seemed to reflect a level of reassurance about these Earth changes. Although the actions of humankind may be accelerating these changes (and accruing the associated karma for doing so), the glacial etched crystals remind us that it is all a part of the divine plan. This can help to redirect the causal energy of Earth changes, such as global warming, and focus it on learning patterns rather than as reaping the effects of negative karma. These crystals also help eliminate a sense of victimhood at the karmic level; the end result is instead empowering, and it allows you to take control of your life.

The glacial etched crystals from India, such as the nirvana quartz, display growth interference from calcite crystals once having grown around the quartz. These calcites are later swept away, leaving only the more stable quartz in place. This results in striking and unconventional crystals that teach us to look at the cause of a specific condition or cycle. Just like the quartz crystals exhibiting what would be otherwise impossible geometry, the current condition may seem to be out of its karmic or causal context. These sacred forms of quartz release you from your karmically driven relationship cycles; they enable you to cease the pattern as you gather perspective into what you are repeating time and time again.
