hard forks

OK so this chapter is about hard forks and cryptocurrency.

So, basically a hard fork is when a currency can be split into multiple currencies and it will happen when something needs to change with the technology behind the currency.

This happened the beginning of August initially for Bitcoin and when the Hard fork happened it created a new currency called BitCoin cash.

So basically, anyone who had their private keys and owned Bitcoin, automatically received a bitcoin cash coins.

Currently at the time of this course bitcoin cash is worth $1300.

So, if you go back and look at the 1-year chart you can see that when it first opened up on August. First each big cash coin was worth $551 and it actually surged always up to $738. Then I November it picked up the pace to over $1000.

People that had a 50 bitcoin received 50 bitcoin cash coins.

You'd have to have like an exodus wallet or a electra wallet, something that has your private keys. So make sure if a hard fork is about to happen that you move all your currency to like an exodus wallet so that you can receive your free new currency.

A new fork that failed was going to create Bitcoin gold in December 2017.
