Sawyer
âIâll call you as soon as I talk it over with Jesse. Weâll figure something out.â
I could hear the giddiness in my motherâs voice when she replied, âI hope itâs soon. I canât wait.â
I smiled, loving the sound of her so happy, and promised, âIt will be. Iâll talk to you later, Mom. Love you.â
âLove you, too, Sawyer.â
I disconnected the call, set my phone down on the kitchen counter, and got back to making breakfast. It had been a couple of days since Jesse and I decided to go from zero to one hundred and hop into bed with one another.
We were now officially in a relationship, and I was loving everything about it.
Given where Jesse and I were, I decided it was time to call my mom and fill her in on what was happening. She still didnât know that I hadnât gone back to Maryland. I didnât want to lie to her or keep it from her, so I decided to take some time this morning to call her while I made breakfast for Jesse and me.
Just as the toast popped up in the toaster, movement out of the corner of my eye on my right side caught my attention. I looked in that direction and saw Jesse standing there with a sweet smile on his face.
âHey, breakfast is just about done,â I told him.
He moved toward me, brought his hand to my hip, and kissed my mouth. âThanks for cooking.â
âYou did it yesterday,â I reminded him.
âWhat do you expect when I get what I got from you in the morning and then got to see you wearing my T-shirt afterward?â
I smiled at him, looked down at this morningâs attire, and asked, âIs it safe to assume you like my outfit this morning?â
I was wearing another one of his T-shirts and a pair of panties. The shirt was white, so it didnât come as a surprise that the look in his eyes intensified as he answered, âI love it.â
Feeling proud of myself for taking one of his shirts without asking, I returned, âI aim to please.â
âAnd you succeed every single time. Did you talk to your mom this morning?â he asked.
I nodded as I pulled the toast from the toaster and set it on the plates. âI did. And all Iâm going to say is that sheâs not interested in waiting a very long time for the two of us to go over and have lunch or dinner with her. I hope thatâs okay with you.â
Jesse and I sat down beside each other on the stools at the island countertop. Then he replied, âIâm good with that any day you want to go.â
âSheâs so excited,â I revealed. âHonestly, I canât recall a time in my life when Iâve ever heard such excitement in my momâs voice.â
âWell, I canât say I blame her. She hasnât had you around for years, and now sheâs getting confirmation that youâre here to stay,â he noted.
He made a valid point.
To say that my mom was ecstatic at the news would have been an understatement.
