CHAPTER 9
Reading Crochet Patterns
In my opinion, reading a pattern of crochet is important for learning simple crochet. You are very limited when it comes to finished projects unless you can read crochet patterns!
If you can't read a pattern for a crochet, I think you are very tight. What are you doing, keep going until you think it's right and start like that?
You have the world at your fingertips if you can read a crochet pattern. You're not afraid to try new stuff in my opinion!
However, I am fascinated by the number of people who cannot understand crochet patterns. It seems like a real shame that they don't know how to get better and feel better about their efforts!
If you cannot read a pattern of crochet, how do you make home-made dishcloths or crochets? Remember, in the picture they look fast, but can you double that?
When I started to crochet (it seems to have been a lifetime), these patterns with such unusual abbreviations were a challenge for me. At this point, I decided to learn how to read the patterns regardless.
I have done a lot of work and answered a variety of questions and have eventually obtained results. The odd thing was that even I wasn't even crocheting wool alone.
To be able to read crochet patterns would seem to encourage you to go higherâthat's how I switched to cotton and made doilies in a very short time learning how to read patterns from crochet.
What scares me is that people who can't read crochet patterns don't seem to be careful to clarify and/or illustrate any of the crochet stitches on a one-on - one basis. The disturbs me.
I was told that it demonstrated a lack of maturity in someone who did crochet home in that way not to be able to read crochet patterns. It did not have any ambition!
Now I'm not in agreement, but I've got one I can tellâ"Don't learn something at the half, learn the whole thing, or waste my time!" I could crochet a doily while my oldest daughter was in the hospital at the age of five (5) months, by reading crochet instructions.
Here is another thing to consider:
How do you increase your own crocheting skills to include extra stitches if you can't read crochet instructions or patterns? I mean the triple stitch, the half double stitch and so onâit could be overwhelming!
And if you're a home crocheter, learn how to read the patterns that I call never-ending, extend your scope beyond your standards.
