“So…what did Mr. Hunk want?” Beckett grinned.

Kellum gaped at the former Army medic. “You’re married!”

“So? My man is way hotter than Creed, but I’m not blind.”

“I’m gonna tell.”

“Will not.”

Kellum smiled. “Yeah, I won’t.”

“So? What did he want?”

Kellum gazed toward the window where the blinds were pulled low and he touched his lips with his fingertips.

“Oh, it’s like that, is it?”

Kellum glanced back at Beckett. “No… he won’t kiss me.” He poked his bottom lip out.

“I’m sure he has his reasons.”

“He does,” Kellum said as Beckett checked his temperature against his forehead and looked into his eyes.

“Now, open your mouth.”

“Yes, dad.” Kellum opened wide. “Ahhhh.”

“Adults don’t make the sound, Kell,” Beckett chuckled.

“You suck.”

Beckett just smiled and continued his exam. “So, nothing wrong physically.”

“Yeah, it’s just my head,” Kellum snorted and slid from the bed.

“That can be fixed with time.” Beckett sat on the edge of the bed.

Kellum walked over to the closet and changed his shirt into a long-sleeved dark pullover, and then swapped his sweat pants for a pair of tactical pants. He bent down and put on socks and then stepped into his lightweight black running shoes.

“So, what’s the plan?” Beckett said, eyeing his fresh attire.

“I’m not sitting here like a damned weak imbecile.”

“Now you’re talking.” Beckett jumped up. “I wondered how long it would take you to realize that you have the power to change what you want.”

“It’s taken me a while, but working for Pegasus has given me courage. I only toed the line because he could hurt my brothers,” Kellum replied.

“Here’s what I think,” Beckett said as they left the bedroom and headed toward the meeting room. “We get your brothers to the bunker with Aunt Mary, and we go and find this fucker and end his reign of terror.”

“I like that plan,” Kellum offered with a smile and opened the garage door.

The murmur of voices died when he stepped inside and all eyes turned to him. Kellum glanced around, searching for and then finding Creed. He tipped his chin up, and then snapped his eyes to Ace.

“I’m not sitting this one out. I may not have the combat skills you all have, but I can shoot.” He took a breath and continued, “And you can use me to draw him out.”

He expected Creed to be the one who objected, but it was Oliver who jumped to his feet. “Screw that! You shouldn’t get anywhere near that fucker.”

Kellum smiled when Oliver rushed over to him and he returned the hug his friend gave him. “It’s okay. I want this done once and for all.”

“So do we, but not like—”

“It’s Kellum’s decision,” Creed cut Oliver off.

The younger man glared at him, but when Parker, his fiancé, caught his arm and pulled him away, Oliver retreated to his spot on the couch with a huff.

Kellum let his eyes move over Creed’s face, his smile soft, and Creed came over to him.

“What about your brothers?”

“Can we take them to the bunker with Aunt Mary?” Kellum repeated Beckett’s suggestion because it made so much sense.
