Understanding the nature of your actions: do you react, act, receive, or, participate?
You have to decide upon activity or non-activity. If you are confronted with a situation as a subjectifying body, you evaluate this and decide (unconsciously or deliberately) to take action, do something or, the other possibility to refrain from action. You can react on what happens around you by an active mode, trying to influence and change the situation, by intentionally taking specific measures to that end. You can also react to what happens in your environment by being receptive, by just watching and observing what is going on, without acting yourself. Without intentionally changing the situation.
