My lips zip into a tight line. Truth about this town is that not many people are flush. There aren’t a lot of high paying jobs. My parents are one of the richest couples in town because they make their money outside of Juneau.

“How about some cookies?” I offer instead, feeling a little pang of pity for the guy.

“Yes, cookies!” he shouts and then starts a chant for cookies that quickly gains traction until half the people in the room are mindlessly chanting it over the music. I can’t help but laugh thinking that even little Theo is more mature than some of these guys.
