Randy: Psst. I have a great idea. Wanna sneak out with me? I'm in your driveway *wink emoji*

I frown at my phone as I sit cross-legged and fully dressed on my bed, everyone else in the house safe and sound in bed. I thought the plan was to sneak out?

Nora: Randy… did you just send me an emoji like a teenager? *laugh emoji*

Randy: Spend enough time with Colton and Sage and you too would be learning emoji speak.

Nora: I have Leah, I'm well adept at emojis.

Randy: Well how about you get that sweet ass of yours out here and into my truck? There’s something I wanna show you.

Nora: That’s what all the boys say *devil emoji* On my way.

Reminiscent of my teenage years when I’d wait till Mom was sound asleep, I quietly make my way out of my bedroom toward the front door, letting the dim light from inside the cab of Randy’s idling truck guide me once I’m outside.

When I close the door behind me, Randy’s earthy scent, so quintessentially him, reaches my nose. And I suddenly feel calm and centered. It’s surreal but when we both lean in and touch our lips together, my mind clears, all of my worries disappearing as my heart skips a beat and my stomach flips, my entire body warming from the inside out as my soul recognizes I’m exactly where I’m meant to be and with exactly who I’m meant to be with. As the kiss turns from soft and gentle to deep and passionate, I can barely stop myself from begging him for more.

Kissing Randy Barnes is something I am still not used to. The way he holds me in place and nearly consumes me with his mouth is a heady feeling.

“Darlin’, I’ve missed that a whole damn lot,” he rasps when we finally pull apart. His hooded eyes and red swollen lips are so enticing I have to fight not to dive in for more. Something about the flash of heat in his gaze tells me he’s also struggling not to do. “Before we continue, let’s take this somewhere a lot more private. I don’t want your daughter tellin’ me she caught me neckin’ with her mom in her driveway.”

My lips curve up. “Wouldn’t want that now, would we?”

He chuckles and shakes his head. “Definitely not. So strap yourself in, darlin'.”

“I bet you say that to all the girls.”

Randy’s grin widens. “A gentleman never tells, but I will say this. And I want you to let this sink in, Nora McIntyre.” He leans in, reaching over and gently gripping the apex of my neck, guaranteeing him all of my focus–although his touch does that, regardless. “There ain’t another woman on this earth that I want strapped in my truck, in my arms, and letting me kiss them just the way I like, except you.” A gentle gasp catches in my throat, but he keeps going, stroking his thumb over the hinge of my jaw. “You’re all I want, and I’ve wanted you a while now.
