Within twenty-four hours, Fenrir, Kieran, Rúna, and I had safely arrived in Ireland without ever having encountered any other courts. Rúna and I would travel by plane, but I never once bothered to ask how Fen and Kieran had planned to travel with us. Deep in my mind, I had automatically assumed that the two immortals would turn into bats and fly across the Atlantic in the dead of night to make the trip without being ravaged by the sun. Or perhaps they would stow away with the luggage to avoid the sunlight that way.

Ironically enough, neither of these options were accurate. In fact, Fen had booked a red-eye flight that would travel to Ireland in the middle of the night, arriving shortly before dawn.

Wow, I chastised myself. Way to stereotype a vampire, dumbass.

Once the four of us had landed in Ireland, Alannia’s mate, Sorryn, greeted us. I was taken aback by the elder vampire and anxiously hid behind Fen at his presence. He smiled politely and bowed at the waist, his long white hair cascading over his shoulders like fresh snow falling from a steep slope. When he stood upright once more, he stared directly at Fenrir.

“We’ve been expecting you, Lord Fenrir. Welcome to Ireland. The trip was comfortable, I trust?” he asked, his tone deep and melodic.

“Yes, quite. Thank you for extending us your invitation,” Fenrir replied with a respectful bow. As the two of them began to chat, I reached over to my aunt and nudged her lightly in the ribs, and gestured for her to come closer to me.

When she did, I leaned forward and whispered in her ear, “Am I crazy? How is he out and about right now? He’s literally purple. Does no one else see this?”

“No one can see it but us,” Rúna replied with a light chuckle. “He uses glamour. It’s a simple spell that his people can use to blend in. Almost anyone can do it. But it doesn’t work on those who work with magic or who are part of the supernatural world.”

“Ah,” I said with a nod. “I gotcha.”

“Are we ready to go?” Sorryn asked loudly. This time when he spoke, Sorryn made sure to look at each of us in turn. But Fen was the only one who acknowledged the man with a nod.

“Very well,” Sorryn said to no one in particular. He held his hands up at either side of his body and closed his eyes, then tilted his head towards the pre-dawn sky. I raised a brow as I watched him curiously. Were we supposed to do something? The sun was mere moments away from rising, and we were all still standing outside of the airport watching this man… what? Pray?

My thoughts were quickly squashed when Sorryn's lips finally started to move. He was muttering something under his breath that I couldn’t understand, and he was doing it at a pace that had my ears burning just trying to keep up. My eyes widened to saucers, and I couldn’t help but peer up at Fen.
