I

’M WORRIED ABOUT LEA. SHE’S been withdrawn recently. Sure, we’ve talked about what happened with her grades and what made so anxious and avoidant originally. But now I know that she is worse than before.

She’s here, but not. Like a shell of her former self. She hasn’t worked through this yet. It goes deeper, much deeper than it appears on the surface. She isn’t just upset over the whole things about getting a B. There’s more to it, I just don’t know what that is, yet.

It’s game weekend. We have our first challenging game of the season tonight. Lea’s coming to watch and so are my dad and Julia. They said that they’ll be bringing Xan as well.

I think that it’ll be good for Lea. She needs to be around people who love her. My family loves her. Her mum also is going to come. It’s the first time in a while. My dad said he’d talked to her, suggesting that maybe she should spend some more time with Lea.

To help her. He’s said that she’d been calling him more recently. Talking to him about stuff. He kind of took the paternal role in her life. Not that I minded. I liked that she felt like my dad was her dad. Maybe one day, that would be official. Maybe she’d become his daughter-in-law.

I hope so anyway. I don’t know what they’d been talking about. My dad wouldn’t disclose that kind of personal information that Lea trusted him with in confidence. Although he had reassured me that it was nothing to worry about.

She seems a little better than before, which is great, but also can be reversed very quickly. We all need to keep an eye on her.

I pull up outside Lea’s flat. Her car sits idle in the driveway, I need to see her before the game. It’s been my pre-game ritual forever. Although it has somewhat adapted over the course of our relationship.

Originally, we would watch a movie. A marvel one. Before one of my games. Now however, it’s amped up a little. I’m not allowed to engage in any, strenuous activity before games. Meaning no sex. However, that doesn’t mean we can’t make-out a little. Alright, a lot.

Unbuckling myself, I walk up the path, and knock on the door. I do have a key, but I don’t want to interrupt anything. A few seconds pass before the door is wrenched open, and a slightly angry Vee greets me.

Her face is the picture of fury. Flushed red contrasts against her blonde hair. If looks could kill, I’d surely be dead. It seems I’ve interrupted Vee in a rather drastic time of her life. Her hair is a mess on her hair, with rollers hanging out of it, make-up is smudged all over her white dressing gown and one of her legs is covered in what appears to be shaving cream.

She’s really going to kill me. “What the hell Greyson. Use your key next time, or better yet get Lea to let you in.
