Chapter 12

Spense leaned over and kissed her. Saoirse hoped he was going to pull her beneath him again. She liked being beneath Spense, feeling surrounded by his warmth. She loved the way he took her repeatedly throughout the night. He was a strong and virile lover, and she’d have to remember to thank Sage for creating him.

She reached for him and felt clothing. It was still dark out. “Stay,” she mumbled. “Again.”

He chuckled. His voice was like liquid chocolate in those silly wedding fountains. Maybe they should have one of those. Wait. Wedding? Where had that come from?

“I can’t, sweetheart,” he said softly, gently. “I need to go home, get a shower and get back for work. I should be back before you wake up. Call me, and I’ll arrange for your breakfast.”

She felt herself pouting. “For the record? I dislike you leaving this early for appearances’ sake.”

“What if I keep several suits down in my office, as well as some casual clothes until we can talk to Rachel and Holmes?”

“Okay. Spense?” He stopped as she sat up, allowing the covers to pool in her lap. “I want you to know I really am sorry I frightened you and that I was a chicken-shit about us. I want this. I want you. I’m crazy about you, Felix Spenser.”

He grinned. “That’s good. Because I’m madly in love with you.”

Before she could react, he’d left her suite. She wanted to be angry that he hadn’t given her time to respond, but she couldn’t manage it. She drew her knees up to her chest and hugged them to her. Smiling, she flopped back down on her back and squealed with pure happiness.

Felix Spenser loved her. She’d have to make sure she told him the same. And then she’d have to endure Sage, Anne and Rachel’s teasing. She’d gone and done precisely what the three of them had done—fallen in love with a wildly dominant man.
