Chapter Nine

Despite the late start, the counters and appliances went faster than I’d accounted for mostly thanks to cheating outrageously with witch magic. I mean, I’d already measured and cut the other day, I’d just had to rip the old out and put in the new. Of course, I decided the bottom cabinets were going in too, it was just the upper cabinets, floor, and walls that’d be waiting. It’d make little sense to replace the counters only to have to take them apart again in a day or two.

I stood up, and I had the ladies on my heels as I moved toward the front door. The doorbell rang when we were about halfway there already, so it was only a few seconds later before I opened the door.
