The Executioner and Grimaldi went back a long way. They had participated in missions during Bolan’s former campaigns against the Mob, and the Stony Man pilot had spent a while working on the wrong side of the law before he met Bolan. The warrior was glad to have Grimaldi aboard if only for moral support.

“By the way,” Grimaldi began, “the boss said he’s sorry he couldn’t send the Three Musketeers as well, but they’re tied up with a project at home.”

Bolan nodded. The pilot referred to Able Team, a trio of veteran fighting men and comrades in arms of the Executioner’s.

“Can’t have everything to make life easier,” Bolan commented, “but we can count on cooperation from the authorities through Karl at the embassy. After we beat back the terrorists the last time, the federales and other Mexican officials are going to help any way they can.”

“That’s because we got results when no one else could,” Raul stated.

“Can’t argue with success,” Grimaldi said. “How about the Company? Are they still lying down on the job with supplies?”

“Karl is their golden boy now,” Bolan replied. “I don’t think you’ll have any trouble getting any high-tech gear for a chopper. Heat sensors, night vision, advanced radar and whatever else you think will work in the whirlybird you’ll be using.”

“Where do I get the chopper? ‘Helicopters ‘R Us’?”

“The Mexican army will provide it,” Bolan answered. “The best choice seemed to be a Bell gunship. I know you’re familiar with the model.”

“You bet,” Grimaldi said. “I’ll want to do some work on it myself and take the bird up for a test flight before taking it into the field. If there’s anything wrong with the chopper or the other gear, I want to know about it in advance so I can fix it before I fly into a combat zone.”

“We’ll give you everything you need,” Bolan assured him. “Hopefully that will include the time you need to make sure all the equipment is in top condition. That will depend on what the terrorists do. They’re not working on our timetable.”

“Has there been any more terrorist activity since the embassy shoot-out?” Grimaldi asked.

“Not yet,” Bolan answered. “The military and the federals searched the city and the surrounding area. They set up roadblocks, but the terrorists must have already ditched their vehicles. Nobody is sure how they managed to escape, but they did it. Valdez wasn’t among the dead at the embassy and I’m sure he wasn’t mortally wounded in the firefight. The guy’s still out there. He’s not going to quit. We just don’t know how much longer the enemy will remain in hiding or what they might try next.”

“It’d be nice if we could locate the sons of bitches and nail them before they can cause any more grief,” the pilot remarked.

“Yeah,” the Executioner agreed. “That would be nice.”

THE VAN ROLLED to the reserved parking area behind the twins’ hardware store. They continued to use the place for a safehouse because it was close to the U.
