GETTING AROUND
By bus Sunbus ( 07 4778 5130, sunbus.com.au) meets all ferries and runs between Picnic Bay and Horseshoe Bay more or less hourly between 5.55am and 9.10pm, with services until 11.40pm at weekends; a $7.50 day-pass allows unlimited travel.
By car or Mini Moke The island has 35km of road, including a dirt track to West Point and a sealed stretch between Picnic and Horseshoe bays. Tropical Topless Nelly Bay rent fun Mini Mokes and pink Daihatsu open-top minicars (from $75/day 07 4758 1111, miwheels.com.au). Tropical Palms Picnic Bay rent 4WDs for accessing remote beaches (from $90/day; 07 4778 5076, tpmi.com.au).
