In the Tiles Shader, there's a Pattern menu where you have all the patterns that you'll ever need to pick from. The default Squares is good for making a chessboard, but switch it from Squares to Scales 2 instead. Now, we have a red and blue sideways fish scales pattern. Adjust the Global Scale down from 100% to 25% so the whole pattern becomes smaller. Also, adjust the Orientation from U to V so our scales map vertically along our towel.

Check out the preview in the Viewer and you'll see how much better this looks than the default, but the key to making it better is in the colors. The Tiles Color 1, Tiles Color 2, and Tiles Color 3 fields, control which groups of scales correspond to which color. Let's take each of these three colors and make them all look more similar, instead of having such contrasting values; let's make this towel be sort of a yellow-gold color.

For Tiles Color 1, set your color values to 213 red, 176 green, and 88 blue. For Tiles Color 2, pick the values 246 for red, 212 for green, and 82 for blue. Tiles Color 3 should be close to the others, with 197 for red, 165 for green, and 91 for blue.

Check out a preview of your towel and notice how much nicer it looks. Just tweak the Bevel width value to be 5% and then set the Grout Color to 180 for red, 161 for green, and 37 for blue. Now, the towel looks like an actual towel and not like a circus tent with the defaults, and we did it all within the Tiles Shader:
