Chapter 9

Leila

“La-ance.”

I hated myself for waking him. He had slept the whole plane ride and hadn’t budged at all. I had taken Jase off his lap and Lance had slept through it all. For a moment, I wondered if vampires could go into some sort of sleep coma or something. As long as I’d known him, I’d never seen him sleep so soundly before. But he probably just needed the rest.

“Lance, wake up.” I smiled as I gently shook his shoulder. “We’re here.”

He smiled when he opened his eyes and let out a sigh of relief when he saw me. He leaned his head back hard against the headrest. Then he shook his head, trying to focus.

“Oh, I’m sorry.” He rubbed my eyes. Then his eyes flew open wide. “Jase! Where is he?”

I laughed. “I have him. See?”

Lance looked over at me, and saw that Jase was awake, playing with a set of keys on my lap. Lance breathed a sigh of relief as he scrubbed a hand across his face. “I’m so sorry. I must have fallen asleep.”

I reached over and placed my hand gently on his cheek. “You were having a nightmare. Are you okay?”

I nodded as he took Jase from me and cradled him to his chest.

“What were you dreaming about, anyway?”

Just then, John walked out of the cockpit, and Margarite was already standing by the door.

“I’ll tell you later.” He let out a deep breath as he adjusted Jase in his arms. “Let’s go have some fun.”

I nodded, eyeing him suspiciously as I rose from my seat, knowing there was more that he wasn’t telling me. But he was right. Whatever it was, it would hold until later.

Lance let me go ahead and within minutes, we were in the waiting limo and headed toward our hotel.

“My God!” I gasped as we pulled up in front of the hotel. “You didn’t tell me that we were going to be staying at a hotel this close to Disney! It’s gorgeous!”

Lance chuckled. “It’s a five-star hotel near Disney. I made the arrangements before we left while you were sleeping. I pulled some strings, and they were able to accommodate us.”

I burst out laughing. “You mean to tell me that you even have connections here?”

He laughed at the incredulous expression on my face. “Sure! Why not?” Then he leaned in and whispered just under my ear, “Vampires like to have fun, too.” Then he kissed my neck and inhaled my scent, giving me a sexy look as he sat back against the seat and played with Jase.

As we pulled down the drive headed toward the hotel, it was as if we had just stepped into a real-life fairy tale. The hotel was a castle, with pink walls and dark red roofs that rose into points along the top. The grounds were impeccably maintained. The sun shone behind it, illuminating it. It was truly made from dreams and fairy tales.

“You like?” Lance arched an eyebrow, clearly enjoying my expression.

I nodded, leaning onto his side.
