“It’s a bad idea,” he said for the fiftieth time.

“No, it’s their job,” she replied for the fifty-first time.

Mage sighed as he grew more impatient with the pointless debate that had already gone on too long. Some things never change, he thought. She still never listens.

“Aria, you are being very rash here. We don’t even know that Sasha is in any real danger,” Mage lied. He hated lying to her, but he could not risk her causing an international incident and, more importantly, the world realizing that Coralia still existed, to save one girl. Even if that girl was Sasha.

“They are already on their way,” Aria said with finality.

He regretted calling her to tell her about Sasha now. Admittedly, it was an excuse to talk to her and see her again, as if he needed one. But when he had called her, he thought she would come with Djoran at the most. Not the Torrents. Never the Torrents.

“When did you dispatch them?” Mage asked with urgency.

“Before I left,” Aria replied. “They should be here within the hour.”

“The Torrents ceased being a tactical strike force a long time ago, Ari. You and I both know that calling them a tactical team is like calling a butcher a surgeon.”

“They get the job done. Right now all I care about is finding Sasha,” Aria replied.

“You sound like Johnny,” Mage said.

“You know, for someone who was once their leader, you don’t sound very confident in them,” Aria commented. “After all, you trained half of the team.”

Mage looked up from where he had been massaging the bridge of his nose, standing near his desk.

“Yes, and that’s the half that I trust,” he said, half-jokingly. “The others are unnecessarily brutal and enjoy what they do a little too much.”

As he spoke, he heard knocking on the door and commotion outside. He hoped they were not early.

“Enter,” Mage called to the door. It opened almost immediately.

“Some … people are here to see you, Mage,” Yara announced, regarding Aria critically for a moment before turning back to Mage. Mage tried to disregard it, knowing that Yara was anything but fond of Aria, for obvious reasons.

“Show them in, please, Yara. Thank you,” he replied. Yara again looked Aria up and down before going back outside.

“I guess they’re early,” Aria commented as Mage glared at her tiredly for a moment. She shrugged playfully.

A few moments later, the door opened again. This time it was not Yara but six Coralians who entered, all dressed in varying gray, maroon, and black outfits. The first three Mage knew very well, having trained them personally.

The first to enter was a tall, regal man. His name was Galian. His trademark was his long, straight, silver hair that hung just below his neckline, despite that his face looked no older than Alex. He wore a suit of armor similar to the ones worn by the Coralian guards, except that his uniform was all black with a single maroon stripe down each leg, his armor gunmetal, and his cape black.
