Chapter Five

Mike felt fucking fantastic the next morning, waking up before his alarm for the first time since the season had ended. Alexei watched with one bleary eye—the other still buried in the pillow—as Mike leaped from the bed.

He stumbled, his ass quick to remind him what they’d done.

That, at least, got Alexei to smile, and then follow him into the bathroom for a shower.

They had company coming for breakfast, so it was quick hand jobs while Alexei thoroughly explored the state of Mike’s slightly tender rim with one finger, and Mike promised he felt good and there was nothing to worry about.

Alexei must not have believed him, or maybe he just wanted an excuse to bend Mike over the bed and do another inspection, this one with his eyes and mouth, before thoroughly coating Mike inside and out with the special salve they kept handy. Mike didn’t really need it this morning, but since Alexei had gone to the trouble of finding an anti-inflammatory cream that didn’t include a numbing agent, and it meant Alexei had another excuse to stick his fingers all kinds of places, Mike didn’t complain.

He did, however, groan when his thoroughly exhausted cock tried to get back into the party.

Alexei, damn him, looked smug all the way through cooking breakfast. Mike peered over Alexei’s shoulder at the feast he was preparing and pressed a kiss where the muscles curved up to his neck.

Alexei tilted his head to rest against Mike’s.

Yeah, Mike thought, wrapping his arms around Alexei and letting out a deep, satisfied sigh, I’m going to marry this man.

“Busy day today,” Alexei observed as he stirred the scrambled eggs.

“I guess. I need to go over to Bonnacord Street to confirm some measurements at some point. What’s on your agenda?”

“I’ve got a few things planned.” Mike wondered if he was imagining the way Alexei’s voice got lower. “And we could work some more on planning the wedding.”

Mike squeezed Alexei tighter. Before he could ask what Alexei had in mind, there was a loud bang on their front door and it was thrown open.

This was how Oliver announced himself.

At the ripe old age of seven, bare-footed, and wearing Pokémon pajamas, Oliver exuded a quiet confidence that Mike found both awesome and hilarious. He was trailed into the apartment by his fifteen-year-old brother, Christian, who rolled his eyes at Oliver’s dramatic entrance.

Both kids were completely at home in Mike and Alexei’s space. They lived across the hall, but moved freely between the two homes. Mike and Alexei would often leave their door open, so that the kids—and their dads—knew they could come right in.

Oliver marched into the kitchen and threw his arms around Mike and Alexei’s waists. Alexei chuckled, pausing in his work long enough to run a hand over Oliver’s head. Christian, whose confidence was slightly less exuberant, hesitated a few feet away until Mike stretched out his arm and pulled him in, too.

“This is nice,” Oliver said in his sweet, high voice, his British accent barely diminished after years of living in Canada.
