Drive through food was getting old, so I decided to make an exception for dinner.

After filling the tank, and allowing Bella to use the indoor restroom alone since there was absolutely nowhere she could escape to from this desolate gas station and mini mart, I searched the nearest restaurant between here and the next place I rented for us to stay.

There was a roadside steakhouse up ahead, not five miles from our next stop over. We pulled up outside the place which bragged, “Steaks, Seafood, Chops” in neon and I asked her, “If I let you go, are you going to be good?”, holding the key to the hand cuffs up to impart my meaning.

“I promise.” She rubbed her wrists dramatically. “Please, just let me be free of these for a bit. Not like there is anywhere to run to from this place. It’s surrounded by cow fields.”

I arched my brow at her and gave her the once over. “Alright, but I’m watching you.”

“You gonna watch me swig a cocktail down like Kool Aid?” She swished past me, through the large wooden door of the restaurant. “Cause being your captive makes me need a drink!”

“You can have one. Don’t want you getting out of control.” I scowled at her. “Again.”

She turned pink and she spun around to face me. “Spoil sport.”

I stopped directly in front of her, and it was impossible to avoid her cherry colored lips. They practically shouted at me. Bella leaned towards me, pleading with her eyes and I noticed her two front teeth sweetly peeking out from below her lip. Even they appeared to implore “Kiss me.”

Kiss her, you stubborn fool. Girls like this don’t come along every lifetime.

I listened to her silent plea. The soft landing on those plump, beckoning lips was more appetizing than the smell of grilled food in the air. And then, when she made herself biddable, compliant and eager with her mouth, I claimed her.

My prize.

Right there in the foyer of the restaurant, like every soldier battling for territory before me, I fought to show her she was mine. I grabbed her ass and pulled her toward me.

“Ahem,” an unwelcome sound, that of a high-pitched throat clearing itself, interrupted our exploration.

Bella turned away from me and I had to talk myself down from yanking her back.

Mine.

I didn’t like her out of my reach.

The waitress had a high ponytail and a choker which wrapped around her neck like a silver snake. She seated us and asked, “Will this be on separate checks?”

“Absolutely not,” I said and pulled Bella closer on the bench seat next to me.

Bella started humming “Girl from Ipanema” and I asked, “Do you by chance have a cocktail menu?”

“One moment.” The sour server spun away.

Bella started crooning and it was clear she was one of those people who didn’t let the fact that she couldn’t sing to save her life stop her.

“Tall and tanned and young and lovely…” she closed her eyes and swayed, and all of the sudden stopped.
