Stop Stifling Curiosity in Others

Although most leaders would like to believe they value inquisitive minds, in reality, most stifle curiosity. Several of my coaching clients report to leaders who have told me that they’d like my client to be more inquisitive and take more risks. Yet, in follow-up calls, these managers complained that my clients question everything and seek my counsel to get their people to stop pushing back so much. This is like asking your fitness trainer how you can increase your upper body strength while never leaving the couch. This simply can’t be done.

I’m sure you don’t get up each day asking yourself what you can do to stifle your people today, and if you could find a way to stop this negative behavior, you would. Here are some ideas to get you started.
