3. But always, always be thinking NOT how can I make my life easier as the presenter but what point(s) do I want to get across and how can I get these across easily and effectively.

And then just one or two very practical points:

1. Always use upper and lower case: slides with all block capitals are hard on the eyes.

2. Generally you will probably want to use around 30 point on your fonts; slides are often too small because they are written as notes not visuals.

The Story

This was good. Sam was finally “getting it” about slides. Slides were not bad; they were just very often badly used. Her storyboard had now allowed her to create a really cool structure for her presentation and there were one or two slides needed. One was the agenda. That was going to be super minimalist, mainly providing the time, but she made a simple build up so she could click every so often and it would highlight where they should be. One other slide was for the supplier flow process. That she would make as a three-part build-up but just give them the final slide as a reminder when they left. And then she would have a final slide which would actually be a gorgeous photo of the new clothes collection, something they were all aspiring to release on time, to budget and to keen customers.
