6.3 Questionnaires

The questionnaire is probably the most common method of data collection in Chinese business and management studies. Using questionnaires is considered a more effective method in terms of its accessibility to respondents, as well as time and cost-efficiency, compared with interviews (Oppenheim, 2000). In addition, questionnaires enable researchers to analyse and explain the pattern of data statistically, while qualitative or ethnographic methods, for instance observation and unstructured interviews, tend to report data in descriptive ways (Bryman, 2012).
