These items are easy to overlook when packing a bug out bag but when you find yourself needing them, you’ll be kicking yourself for not having packed them. Whatever you do, don’t make that mistake.

Keep in mind, however, that luxury items like makeup kits and hand mirrors will only add to the bulk and weight that a person has to carry. Your teenage daughter may think that she can’t live without these items for three whole days but she’ll be better off if she doesn’t have to carry the added weight on her back. Also, not carrying them means that there will be more room for actual survival items in the backpack.
