As well as the shield of Trinity House, the motto also appears in the oval cartouche on the solid, half-basket hilt. Unusually, the design is set against a background of rays filling the remainder of the oval space. A distinguishing feature of this sword is the form of the scabbard mounts. In addition to the standard engraved lines and volutes and the usual anthemion motif on the chape, each mount has a band of embossed oak leaves. In the case of the two lockets these are associated with the suspension rings. This is the pattern worn by Admirals of the Fleet, of whom HRH is one. The buckle of the black leather sword belt carries the shield of Trinity House.
