The old woman

Wrinkled in body and soul

Motherhood faded to a distant memory

Observes the child screaming in the supermarket while his mother stands by

And she judges.

The mother

Flushed in shame and frustration

Sleep faded to a distant memory

Wishes she and her child could be transported elsewhere, anywhere alone

And she despairs.
