The phone rang loudly.

Oh, boy, here we go…let’s get it over and done with, Serenity thought, answering her cell phone. “Hey, baby…What’s up?”

“Oh, you finally fuckin’ answer your phone, huh? What’s up, Serenity? Why you ain’t answering your phone?” Rock barked at her.

“Damn, Rock, you know something I don’t? ’Cause the last time I checked, I was grown.” Serenity tried not to be irritated.

“Yeah, but you been acting funny. First of all, I haven’t seen you in about a week, and we go to the same fuckin’ school. Why, Serenity?” Rock asked, agitated.

“Rock, come on, you know I’ve been busy. You know I’m trying to keep my GPA up and getting into as many student activities as I can. Stop the drama, okay? I’m not doing anything. I should be asking you what’s up.” Serenity hated to lie to him. She put her head down, knowing the first sign of a cheater is they always flip the question back.

“A’ight, fine. Am I gonna see you tonight or what? Can you fit me into your fuckin’ schedule?” Rock asked, still irritated by her unsubstantial answers.

“Yes, I’d love to, but can you save the drama, ’cuz I can’t deal with that shit,” Serenity said, squinting her eyes, knowing he could just hang up and show up at her dorm any minute.

“Yeah, a’ight. I’ll call you. Pick up your phone next time.” Rock’s voice was stern. He hung up the phone knowing something was definitely up with her. Did I do the right thing? Or have I just fucked up a good thing for my own selfish reasons he questioned himself.

Damn, I wonder if he knows about what happened at the party. Shit, how the fuck am I gonna explain myself after I dismissed his request over a hundred times? Serenity thought after hanging up the phone. I guess I’m gonna have to face it, one way or another.
