6. Here’s the question: How do you get the balls into the cup by using what you know about the equivalence between gravity and acceleration? Try it out! Hold the cup out in front of you with your arms raised and the balls hanging outside the cup. Let go of the cup, letting it fall a couple of feet before catching it. When you drop the cup, it goes into free fall, accelerating downward. The directions of the force of gravity and the cup’s acceleration are opposite, but the forces are equal, so they cancel each other out. Because there is no gravitational force stretching the rubber bands, they pull the balls into the cup as it falls. Puzzle solved!
