93 While the pattern layer is selected, choose Layers < Create Layer Mask from the menu. When the mask appears next to your pattern layer, click it to target it. In the Color palette, select black as the main color. Use the current brush to paint within the mask. Increase and decrease the brush as necessary as you drag it over many of the regions you created previously. The results of masking Pattern Chalk with Pattern Chalk on the same layer can be intricate and very random pattern structures throughout the image. Through this method, any sense of repetition in terms of applied patterns will slowly start to disappear.
