trail resumes heading southwest. This is also the point where you could take a side trip to Indian Mounds Park by turning right (west) on Old 26 Road, following it for 1.0 mile to Koshkonong Mounds Road, which goes another 1.0 mile west to the park. There, several turtle- and bird-shaped Effigy mounds are preserved, along with a section of Native American trail you can still follow.

Continuing southwest on the Glacial River Trail, you travel through patches of woods and open areas. The trail is close to WI 26 in this section, and vehicles are often visible. At 8.0 miles you come to a covered bridge made and painted in the fashion of a railroad caboose. Local people volunteered to build the structure using wood salvaged from a nearby barn. At 8.5 miles the trail reaches the Jefferson–Rock County line, the present terminus.

For a longer ride, consider continuing on the path as it follows WI 26 on its way to Janesville. The trail ends at the edge of the city, with no connections or facilities (yet). However, 4.9 miles south on the trail brings you to Storrs Lake Road. Turn right (west) and it’s 0.6 mile to Milton and the historic Milton House, an important stop on the Underground Railroad. Alternatively, head right (east) into the woods around Storrs Lake, where there is a boat landing, parking, and a trailhead on the Ice Age National Scenic Trail (but no facilities).
