The Hike

From the signed trailhead in the third parking and picnic area, the Murray Canyon Trail heads southeast along the base of the foothills. After encountering the Andreas Canyon Horse Trail (stay right here), the Murray Canyon Trail heads south toward Murray Canyon and crosses the outwash plain at the foot of the mountains to reach the canyon. The trail turns left and follows the creek upstream through a fine palm oasis.

The Coffman Trail, entering from the left, marks the limit of horse travel. The Murray Canyon Trail continues to follow the creek upstream, crossing several times and wandering among big boulders, until it reaches Seven Falls, a series of falls and cascades. You can get a better view of some of the upper falls by climbing up the right (north) slopes a short distance. When you’ve finished enjoying the falls, return the way you came.
