Each child is unique, and God uses each in more ways than one. I can only cry at times or just shake my head in amazement at how He works and how He gets messages and reminders of hope to me through children—especially my six-year-old granddaughter, Tamia. That child is something else. I sing in a gospel group here in Cincinnati. She sings in the young children’s choir at my church and I see me in her all the time. I see what blessings God has given me and I try to pass them on to her, and that makes my heart just glow. I feel as though God is saying to me, “Well done, my faithful servant.”

Just the other day a little chubby boy said to me out of the blue, “You know?… If I was you, I would just soar to the skies.” I was stunned. I have been wanting to travel.

One day, out of work and suffering with my backache, I had had enough. My medicine wasn’t working and my pains were so severe, I began to cry. My granddaughter came in the room and began to console me. She said, “Grandma, your back hurt?

“Yes, it does,” I said.

“Grandma, remember, you gonna get a new body. You won’t have to cry no more. God’s gonna give you a new body and we are gonna sit with Him.” And then she said, “You are the best grandma I have ever had, and I don’t wanna live here without you. When you die, I wanna die too.” I thought to myself Oh, Lawd! This child is something else. She rubbed my back with her knees, elbows, and feet to make me feel better. God bless that child.
