This is a wide reef with a relatively flat top at 50 feet, which gets wider the further north you travel. There is a mooring buoy and rope to descend down to the reef and unless there is a current you will be led back to the rope to ascend from the dive.

This is a vibrant reef, covered in an assortment of hard and soft corals and some big yellow tube sponge clusters which make great subjects for photos. I also found a beautiful delicate red sea whip which looks brown and boring until you shine a light on it, they are not widely seen in Barbados.

The fish life is diverse and plentiful on this reef, with schools of yellow goatfish, hamlets, hogfish and princess parrotfish. It is possible to find blennies on the hard coral surfaces and feather dusters or tube worms.

Large schools of creole wrasse, boga fish and chromis pass overhead throughout the dive. They spend most of the time in the shallow water levels between the surface and reef, but occasionally come down and visit cleaning stations. Cleaning stations are common reef features throughout the world and a limited number of fish perform the duty. In the Caribbean the bluehead wrasse otherwise known as the ‘cleaner’ wrasse, a small blue and green fish takes on the task. They get a good meal whilst the other larger fish have parasites removed from their bodies.
