Preheat your oven to 375°F. Line a sheet pan with parchment paper.

Lightly flour a clean work surface and rolling pin. Roll out the pie dough to make an 8- to 10-inch circle. Transfer to the prepared sheet pan.

In a mixing bowl, combine the cherries, granulated white sugar, cornstarch, and vanilla. Stir well.

Roll out the marzipan to make a 5-inch circle. Place it in the center of the dough.

Arrange the cherries on top of the marzipan.

Fold over the sides of the pie dough, leaving room for the cherries to peek out. It does not have to be perfect; the messier it is, the better!
