Walker wasn’t alarmed. He agreed with Rogers that the sound of an expensive motor was not an unusual noise, considering the kind of neighborhood they were in. He certainly hadn’t forgotten about the possibility of a traitor being on the task force, but he was naturally inclined to trust his team leader. If Walker suspected anyone, it was Hassan, while Park seemed more concerned about Ayla Sami.

Heavy surf pounded the rocks below as they waited for Rogers to return. They kept their pistols drawn with the muzzles pointed toward the ground. “Any news from home?” Walker asked. “I left my phone at the hotel.”

Park fished his cell out of his tactical trousers, turned it on, and studied the screen for a moment, his features lit by the dim glow of the device. “Check this out,” he said, passing the phone to Walker.
