Joshua worked in his new art room, music blaring, paint flying. He was warm and naked and lost—completely lost in recreating the pleasure and need he’d found with Lachlan.

Lachlan was all the colors of ice, but their need was pure fire, and he was going to capture the combination if it killed him.

And it might if he couldn’t find the way to make Lachlan’s eyes right. The way his Alpha stared at him. Saw him. No one had ever looked so deep into him in his whole life. Never.

He put his brushes down and dipped his fingers in the paint. Maybe that would work.

Joshua smeared paint over the canvas, closing his eyes and letting his spirit tell him where to put paint. Suddenly he was there, in the zone, and he was lost to it.

When he felt someone touch his back, Joshua jumped, realizing he was just standing in front of his work, panting.

“You need some food, love.”

He blinked up, suddenly shivering and lost. “Food?”

“Mmmhmm. You’ve been in here for hours, and I’ve been neglecting you so I could work. I think we both need some.”

“I—” He looked back at the canvas, the passion and need screaming from the painting. “It worked.”

“Will you tell me all about it once we get your energy back up?” Lachlan lifted him right up off the floor.

He nodded, suddenly feeling like he couldn’t even think anymore.

“Come along.” Lachlan took him to the kitchen, setting him on a chair. “Here, love. Some juice.”

“Juice. Oh, that sounds good. Thank you.”

Lachlan held a glass to his mouth, and he drank. Apple juice. Oh, cold and good. He reached up, helping to support the glass as he drank deep.

“That’s it, boy. You just need someone to remind you that you have to take care of yourself.”

“I just—the work, you know?” The work was bigger than him, so much heavier.

“I know. I can tell.” Lachlan touched his cheek, then fed him more juice.

“You had a good…day?” He didn’t even know how long it had been.

“I worked a goodly bit myself. But it’s time for us to have each other for a bit now.”

Have each other. What a wonderful idea. “Yes, Alpha.”

“More juice. Then we’ll have a nice light meal before we go to the playroom.”

“The playroom?” He sucked down more juice. He felt like he’d been changing, stretching, growing.

“Have I not shown it to you?” Lachlan sounded surprised, and his eyebrows went up. “I have your toys in now.”

“You haven’t, no. We’ve been…busy.”

“We have. You’ll hate it and love it.”

“That’s encouraging,” he teased. “What can I help with for supper?”

“Mmm. Feeling better. Why don’t we make sandwiches? I could eat a Dagwood. Do people say that anymore?”

“I have no idea, but I love sandwiches. What kind of meat?”

“We have roast beef and turkey.”

“Yum. What would you like?” He stood on steadier, if not rock solid, feet.

“I think both. Pile it high!” Lachlan laughed, and he had to grin back.

“Yes, sir! Uh…” He blinked over. “Is it okay to make a sandwich naked?”

“It is.
